Mechanical Walking Coffee Table
Every Home Should Have One! This is my mechanical walking coffee table. These are it's first steps in Our Living Room. It Was Kind Of Inspired by 'The Luggage' from Terry Pratchett's book The Colour of Magic That was dramatised by the BBC last year. It has an Oak top attached to a steel frame. It is moved by a pair of old electric wheelchair motors by Cranks and rods. The Legs Were Laser Cut by my friend Dave from Cirrus Laser Our Connaway of Aluminium. There is more detail of the mechanism in a couple of the other videos – if you're interested. The table can be moved away to 'finger joystick' just visible in the corner as well as radio control (supplied by RF Solutions Ltd). I'll Be Taking the table along with A Few other electrical gizmos to the Maker Faire in Newcastle Upon Tyne (England) on March 13/14 2010 if you'd like a closer look (or a drive). It makes me smile!
